What Scaling to 6 Figures Taught Me
Nov 10, 2021If I am being honest, I almost didn’t do this blog post. I plan these posts out a few weeks in advance with my podcast and when I saw this topic, I was like ugh, I don’t want to talk about this.
The reason I DID want to share this topic however is because when I first started, I didn’t believe I could make this type of money on a very part-time schedule. In my head, I wanted to grow, of course, but I would always question...
How far can you REALLY take this Holly?
THIS thought right here is why I want to talk about this topic. It is the belief (and believing in myself) that changed the outcome for me and it can for you too.
I used to think, how am I going to make $100K+ while working a full-time corporate job? One that is pretty demanding in itself. Then I started working on my own mindset. And why I wanted to grow this community. And the lives I wanted to help change.
What happened next is what I call my mini-miracles. I actually started to see lives change. My clients have been featured in national publications, made 6+ figures, have chart-topping podcasts, published books, and more. Seeing their results was even more rewarding than my own. And we are only 18 months in. Last year at this time, I had just launched my website. It blows my mind.
So when people ask me what has changed and how I grew so fast, it’s the stories. And the community. And seeing all of you come together to make this dream of being able to run a business on a really part-time schedule come to life.
And when I changed my mindset to say, YES, I am going to make 6+ figures (my goal is 7 now btw), you all followed too. And that made all the difference in the world.

How do you develop a growth mindset in business?
I am a fan of Carol Dweck’s research. Dweck is a highly regarded professor of psychology at Stanford University and the author of several books, including Mindset: The New Psychology of Success. In Mindset, Dweck differentiates a “growth mindset” from a “fixed mindset.” According to Dweck:
A growth mindset is “the belief that an individual’s most basic abilities and skills can be developed through dedication and hard work—brains and talent are just the starting point.”
A fixed mindset is “the belief that an individual’s basic abilities and skills, their intelligence and their talents, are just fixed traits.”
Tips for Getting Yourself into a Growth Mindset:
- Do what you love but do it for people who love what you do. (If a client is difficult to work with, don’t work them.) A recent entrepreneur article quoted Discovering your purpose is as important as finding your niche. You will bring much more value and expertise to those that need you, and you will have so much more fun delivering your products and services.
- Practice gratitude. Be grateful for what you have.
- Leave time for joy. This is one that I personally have worked on SO much lately. Creative time. Whitespace. Family time. If I don’t like to do it in my business, I get it done but then figure out how I am going to outsource it next.
So what has passing 6 figures this year taught me?
It is freaking possible. I know you are listening to this on the way to work, or on your break. Or early morning while working out. I know the days are long. And sometimes you are working when everyone else is questioning what the heck you are doing. I know the days are REALLY long. And the first steps are really hard.
But you are not in this alone. We are here. I am here. This community is here. And side-hustlers unite because this community and this vision are just getting bigger, making more of an impact.
I want you to work on more things you love. To spend more time with your family. To be able to take the holidays off. So join us on our next mastermind retreat. Because it is all possible.
I believe in you. And I believe in your vision. I have seen so many of you grow since this community was founded and I hope this episode inspires you to keep going.
