Content Repurposing: A Roadmap to Increase Your Social Media Impact
Apr 05, 2024In the fast-paced world of digital marketing, some strategies bear repeating, not because they're trendy, but because they work wonders. Today, I'm revisiting a topic that's near and dear to my heart – content repurposing. While it may seem like I'm beating a dead horse, I assure you, the results speak for themselves. I am screaming from the rooftops to do this because it has helped us SO much. So, let's dive into this tried-and-true method and explore how it's transformed our social media game.
The Evolution of Content and Social Media
Before we delve into the nitty-gritty of content repurposing, let's rewind the clock and revisit my journey with content creation and social media. Recognizing that my clients frequented platforms beyond just Instagram, I faced a challenge – how to maintain an active presence while juggling a full-time job. This dilemma birthed our #antisocial plan and content repurposing strategy, paving the way for a game-changing approach to digital marketing. I have shared this story a lot and most recently shared all the technical steps of how we create content and came up with our content repurposing strategy behind the scenes.
Content Repurposing Strategy Unveiled
The heart of our content strategy lies in our Crush the Rush Podcast. What once started as a single podcast episode has blossomed into a wealth of content, generating a staggering 12 unique pieces per week. 12!! From YouTube (hey, we started a YouTube channel) to LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest, our content now permeates multiple platforms, maximizing our reach without breaking a sweat.
The Power of Personal Ownership
One misconception about our content strategy is the assumption that it's outsourced. Contrary to popular belief, I'm the driving force behind content creation. By embracing content repurposing, I've reclaimed ownership of our digital narrative and demonstrated that effective marketing doesn't always require hefty outsourcing fees.
I create the content.
- 12 pieces of content a week: free.
- Pay a social media person: a minimum of $1,000 per month.
You can do it. You just need a roadmap.
Introducing a new private podcast series that’s just for you if you’re sick of all the Instagram BS! (or insert social channel of your choice). You can build a business without being a slave to the social engine. Grab the free series.
Content Roadmap
- Map out where things will go. It's not fancy, you could literally write it on the back of a napkin.
- It works. Instagram, Pinterest, insert the platform of choice doesn't care where the content comes from as long as you are consistent. You can even use tools like Planoly or Metricool to help automate or batch.
Breaking Down the Numbers: Let's talk stats!
This is real-time in the last 30 days:
- Facebook engagement has surged by 46%. I never use the app except to post Irish dance pics of my kids. I actually logged in this week because I didn't believe it and hadn't looked at my business page in about two years.
- Instagram engagement skyrocketed by a whopping 76%. I haven't done ANY engagement except answer all DMs, respond to all messages, and occasionally I will scroll and just comment on what I like. Insert my relationships with Instagram is super healthy right now which I am really proud of. A testament to the power of consistency.
- LinkedIn: I am still running LinkedIn on my personal page because that is where I started in Corporate so it won't track metrics, but I have had TWO clients come from LinkedIn in the last 90 days, so I call that a win. If I am being honest this is a place I would focus on more if I had time, that and really using hashtags for people to find your posts.
- Speaking of hashtags, I use Chat GPT to help me with hashtags. I take the post that I wrote, drop it into Chat GPT, and then ask for 20 hashtags. Some of them are a little weird, but most of them are right on. Done and Done.
- Pinterest: Our engagement is actually down 12% (giving you real life here) but here's the kicker: Our monthly views, went from around 20K to (are you ready?) at our highest, 400K views per month. Crazy! Right now we are sitting at about 300K.
I am sharing these stats because I love case studies, but also, I hope this is motivating. I do spend a decent amount of time thinking of podcast episodes and what to share, etc., but once I do that the rest is almost on autopilot. Simple execution is key! Our content strategy is a breeze. With just 30 minutes per week (between using Canva where I have templates saved and Capcut, where I pull memes from), I transform our podcast episodes into a variety of content formats, from reels to emails, all tailored to resonate with our audience across various platforms.
30 minutes. And our engagement is up overall 150%. It is worth a try right?
Now, it's your turn to unleash the power of content repurposing!
- Pull out a piece of paper.
- Write down one piece of content you REALLY love to create (this is podcasting for me)
- Get creative and think how you can repurpose it. Actually do it 😊
Content repurposing isn't a mere buzzword; it's a game-changing strategy that can revolutionize your digital presence. By leveraging existing content in innovative ways, you can amplify your reach, engage your audience, and drive tangible results. So, let's embrace this approach, unlock its full potential, and witness the transformative impact it can have on our businesses.
