This week's blog post is a little behind the scenes of an Ah-ha moment I had a few weeks ago.
Last week, I was on a walk with my husband and I had one of those total ah-ha moments that only happens in the movies (or on Instagram😁). Side note: Why do all the best ideas come forward when you’re walking?
I'm not a business coach. I literally said it out loud at about 7:30 in the morning when neither one of us was fully awake. And he kept walking and looked and me and said "What? Of course you are a coach." And I was like, No, this is it. I am not.
If you listened to
Tuesday's podcast episode with my friend Holly, we chatted about micro-niching. And it got me thinking. I personally talk about two to three topics, which I would call my "micro-niche"
My Expertise: How do you actually build a full-time business (multi-6-figure) on a part-time schedule.
- My micro-topics:
- What systems and routines you can set up to save time and service your clients
- How you can grow without being reliant on social media (going back to #1)
- How you can create more with what you have (i.e. income stacking, the 80/20 rule, the "strategy" stuff)
Why I'm Not a Coach
I am a business strategist at heart. I take all your pieces and parts and I make it into one beautiful plan. Most likely color-coded and with bullet points. And while I do ask you questions to get there, I am not the "coach" that just cheers you on. It goes deeper. And on my walk, I was like I need to share MORE of that. Because that is what I believe makes me different. And what I believe will help you the most.
To reach your first multi-six-figure year, you need someone to personally audit your business, show you what’s working and what’s not, and give you the plan – the daily, weekly, monthly, and action steps – to get there.
You need someone who will then check in with you once a week (or more), hold you accountable to working on this plan, and tell you what to do when challenges come up.
This is what a business strategist does.
This is literally what I do every single day – give female entrepreneurs the strategy, action plan, and accountability to reach their stretch goals.
This was my epiphany on a walk. And I am sharing this because I think this is a different take on niching down. You hear and I share all the time to niche down. But what if you thought of it in a different way? You know because sometimes we need to hear things 3-4 times before it clicks.
What if you thought about your business in two ways?
Your niche.
But also, what do you stand for and what do you not?
What do you talk about and what do you not?
What polarizing topics light you up? And what doesn't?
What makes you different as a service provider, coach, or product creator? And are you sharing that? And more importantly, when was the last time you really looked at what you stand for?
Of course, the walk ended, the day started and I kept thinking, what created this conversation? Insert I overanalyze everything. It came back to a conversation I had with my copywriter Jenny. What is your brand promise? The promise that no matter what, you will help your clients achieve?
Mine: You’ll reach your first multi-six-figure year in part-time hours.
Have you slowed down to really think about what your brand promise is?
Creating Your Heart Promise
When Jenny and I were chatting about it, we also talked about our heart promise. This is something that is deep inside you about why you want to do what you do. For me, I want to change women's lives who have worked in corporate America and show them there is a better way. I honestly tear up writing this but just five years ago I NEVER thought this was possible. I didn't believe it. I took the heart promise a little further and said,
My goal is to help 100 women create their dream job.
How's that for heart?
I realize this is a little bit of a different post and usually I am giving you a list of things to think about, but this week I would encourage you to slow down and really think about the content and message you are sharing.
What is your brand promise?
What is your heart promise?
And how do you stand out? What makes you, you?
Hi, I'm Holly. I'm not a coach. I am a strategist. And I'm on a mission to help 100 women create their dream job. ❤️ When I say it, it gives me chills and gets me more excited than I have been in a while.
Slow down. Dig deep into your brand promise and I promise you will discover a boost of motivation you might not have had before.
And do me a favor. When you do, share it with me. What is your brand promise? What is your heart promise? I want to hear it!
