We increased our profits by 50% this year.
How's that for an intro? I hear a lot of people say, oh I just had a 6-figure launch or I made $50K this month. It is one thing to make that kind of money on a launch or through whatever you sell, but if your expenses outweigh what you make, is it really a 5-figure launch? Or insert whatever your goal was?
We have had 6-figure launches. And 3-figure launches. The ultimate goal in every launch however is to be profitable. So if you have a $100K launch but spend $90K in ads, is it worth it? That is for you to decide. What I can share are two shifts we made behind the scenes to increase profit by 50% this year.
Two Shifts To Increase Profits
The first shift: Mindset. If you haven't read last week's
blog post, read through each mental shift we made and are making. I share five mindful ways to
recharge your goals for the rest of the year.
The Second Shift: Understanding the Difference Between Client Attraction and Sales. Let's dive into this more.
Make Client Attraction a Daily Activity
Write this down.
Every day as a business owner (at least M-F in my book), you should be doing one thing that relates to client attraction and sales. Yes. Both. Everyday.
Why? These are the needle movers in your business. The teeny tiny steps that you can do every day that are going to add up to massive results.
First, let's break it down. What is the difference?
Client attraction is new eyes on your business. New people following you, new email subscribers. Every single day you should be doing SOMETHING to attract at least one person.
- Share a freebie
- Network
- Have a coffee with a friend
- Join a summit
- Be a guest on a podcast
- Create a blog and tie it to SEO
We have heard this before, I am guessing you probably have a freebie, but are you doing this every day? Every day. Set a timer for 15 minutes and dig in. If you manage to connect with five people a day, that is 1,300 people a year. That's a pretty solid starter email list am I right?
What are you creating to attract people into your world?
Remember, we want to create more than we consume.
But here's the trick: this is 50% of the activity. The second piece is selling.
You Have to Be Selling
A lot of us cringe at the word selling, but if you don't eventually sell something, you are running a very expensive hobby. Truth. So I like to think of it as serving. If you need my help, I am here to serve you and help you get to where you are going. But also, do this every day. Monday through Friday.
Share something, some way on how people can work with you. A link, a question, a How Can I Help You statement. Open the door up. So often we get nervous to share what we are so passionate about doing. I do count sharing something free selling also because you are selling a way for people to get to know you. But you have to actually share it.
So as you end your week this week, I want you to think about your plan for next week. How are you going to "attract" and "sell" every single day?
We made this shift in January of this year. I made a pact that no matter what this was my non-negotiable Monday through Friday. If I am not working, it's scheduled. But every day, you will see some way I can help you for free (the attract piece) where I am teaching, sharing, inspiring, etc. And one way you can work with me (the selling piece).
That shift, which sometimes takes less than five minutes because we are repurposing the same thing over and over, increased our profits by 50% this year. As in take home, take out of the bank account money.
