If you missed the stories this week over on Instagram I turned 40. If I am being honest, I only shed a few tears, I mean it is hard getting older, but for the most part I just embraced it and had some fun! Oh and ate WAY too much cake. lol. But hey, when it is YOUR birthday cake, you have to enjoy it right? Its a tradition in our family to make buttercream icing from scratch and man is it good. I think my brain is short circuiting still from the sugar!

Q: What do you eat all day?
This literally is the #1 question I get asked EVERY day. My favorite meals this month have been the following:
- Overnight oats for breakfast | or Chia Pudding with some fruit and protein | Avocado Toast
- Easy quinoa packed protein salad for lunch
- YO yogurt and fruit OR raw veggies and Trader Joe’s buffalo hummus for snack
- Anything crockpot for dinner – These are my current favs:
Q: Where is your planner from?
I have a planner addiction. And honestly I am trying to simplify more, but right now I do the following:
1) Plan all our family / 9-5 work activities in Google Calendar (we share it as a family)
2) All “business” and coaching activities go in my Target monthly planner (plain ole paper)
3) I have a food log that goes with the workout program I do every morning (also paper) that I track sleep, food and workouts | The APP version is here
4) I use the Rachel Hollis “Start Today” journal for gratitude – This is another good one from Amazon.
Q: What is your favorite Birthday dessert?
I asked this on one of my posts this week and it was SOOO fun to see everyone’s answers! Everyone seems to have their own “favorite” homemade cake. And for us (no judging), it is the Funfetti box mix. Ha. It is SO good. Then we top it with Buttercream icing! I also love a good Texas Sheet Cake from one of our favorite restaurants and if I am really splurging, REAL vanilla ice cream. The kind where you can see vanilla flecks in it!
Q: How do you stay motivated?
If I am being honest, the “birthday” motivated me A LOT these first few months of 2019. I wanted to celebrate feeling strong, no matter what my weight. But I also have a lot of anxiety and just normal pressures from work and day to day life. So getting up before everyone else helps calm my nerves. And I know when I do that that I will feel so much better and less stressed throughout the day. So my workouts have really turned into my therapy. I feed myself EXTRA motivation in the morning so it lasts all day. That and sleep. All things revolve around sleep. Everything is better when you are rested. 🙂 Easier said then done. I know.
Q: Best Birthday present?
This year it was all around the homemade gifts! The girls are starting to spell and read and hearing their poems and seeing my husband make homemade crafts for me was the best! They really outdid themselves. I guess things really do get simpler with age. I also was spoiled with these leggings, new weights and a NEW laptop. Good things are coming this year from the little engine that could (aka building a business from my kitchen table!) And you can never have too many leggings right?
Oh and p.s. For all you Kendra Scott fans, you get 50% off on your birthday if you go to the store! That’s on the plan for this weekend! You just have to go in the same month as your birthday!
I am currently working on my Spring Capsule wardrobe so those leggings will be a nice addition! I’ll keep you posted as to what that looks like soon!!! AND I am putting together a running plan this spring, so for all you runners (or wannabes like me), a “mixed” workout plan is coming also! (Here are two FREE ones you can do now!) Lots of good stuff to be excited about this spring!
