10 Things Productive Moms do before 10am

TGIF! I always get asked how I fit in ALL THE THINGS everyday and the truth is I don’t. I am REALLY picky about what activities I commit to and I have a REALLY strong morning routine. So if they day goes to crap at 3pm, I know I already did the important stuff. I have been wanting to put this list together for a while and hope it helps you as much as it has me! And p.s. this can be for any momma…fur mom, twin mom, toddler mom, teenage mom, you get the idea! If you are busy, you will want to read this!

1) MAKE THE BED

It seems kind of ridiculous and I will be the first to say that I do not do it everyday right now and need to improve, but here’s the thing. Take 5 minutes to clean up your space and it automatically gives you a “win” for the day! And at the end of the day feels good to come home to a clean space.

2) FIND THE LIGHT!
Open the blinds, turn on the lights, remind your body that it is time to get up! There is no substitute for natural light pouring in. And if you get up before the sun is up, using a bright light alarm clock will help softly waken your body!

This is the one I use!

3) MOVE YOUR BODY!
Did you know that only 5% of the population moves their bodies 30 minutes a day! I am not talking about a grueling workout. I am talking about taking a walk. Doing some yoga. Playing with your kids. Get moving!

4) GET DRESSED FOR THE DAY!
If you follow me on insta-stories you know that this has been a HUGE change for me. I am not talking dressed to the nines everyday. I just mean pull yourself together for whatever your activity! And because I am a type-A planner I created a capsule wardrobe for each season. Which saves me time and takes the dress out of what to wear!

5) PRACTICE GRATITUDE!
This can look like a lot of different things depending on your goals, but praying, meditating, reading, writing in a journal. The goal is to dedicate 10 minutes day to think about what you are grateful for and take a minute to slow down! Using a writing prompt, affirmations or just sitting still for a few minutes is a great way to support this habit. Whether you are religious or not, spending a few quiet moments in the morning will fill you with hope and purpose!

6) TIDY UP!
I usually do this right before I go to bed, but I also spend a few minutes in the kitchen every morning getting organized. Maybe its cleaning off the counter, or getting dinner out for the night. Sometimes it is as simple as emptying the dishwasher. I usually pick one thing to do every morning that will help me feel “accomplished” when the day is done! This is a another small win, that will help you focus on what matters most after everyone is up!

This is one of my favorite ways to clean up fast! Throw it in a basket!

7) COMPLIMENT YOURSELF!
Part of #5 for me is affirmations. And one of those is saying “I am an exceptional wife and mom” everyday. Whatever it is, remind yourself that you are strong!

8) READ SOMETHING MOTIVATIONAL!
I could talk about this all day, but did you know if you read 10 minutes a day for a year you could get through about 2 books a month, which is approximately 24 books a year! I mean that is amazing right? Zig Ziglar once wrote, “People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing–that’s why we recommend it daily.”

9) FUEL YOUR BODY!
I recently talked about these 3 goals in a workshop. No alcohol. No sugar. No processed foods. If you follow this even 75% of the time, you will be feeling amazing! It doesn’t have to be complicated. I start my day everyday with a smoothie, following the “fab four” philosophy. You can’t go wrong!

This is a great book about nutrition and what your body needs!

10) GIVE SOMEONE A COMPLIMENT!
Giving someone a compliment is an amazing productivity boost! And spreading more kindness and joy is always a good thing? I always say. Find your tribe. Love them hard. 🙂
